It has been explained that the exact method of achieving ones' Awakening has been explained as carrying ones' potential as a Blazer to the absolute limit, as well as having the will to ascend even higher than that resulting in the ranking up of their soul. Having stepped out of their original fate, Desperados exists between the boundary of a human and a demon. As shown by Ikki who reached his Awakening, a Desperado can raise the upper limit of their magic, which an ordinary Blazer cannot due since they are bound by fate. It has always been explained that Blazer's magic is determined from birth and it would never increase no matter the training.
